The journal is open to subjects of common interest related to the immunology, immunopathology, microbiology and epidemiology of human and animal infectious diseases, especially zoonotic infections, and animal models of human infectious diseases. The role of environmental factors in disease emergence is emphasized. The Journal of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases accepts manuscripts on experimental, clinical, or laboratory investigations, including meta analyses, invited reviews, research studies, case reports, letters to the editor, and clinical images in the broad field of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology. Animal studies and in vitro research studies in medical microbiology and infectious diseases are also acceptable.

All manuscripts should be submitted in English. All manuscripts will be evaluated with a peer review process. Each issue contains several articles dealing with original laboratory investigations and articles dealing with clinical studies. There are sections devoted to review articles, pro and con discussions of controversial subjects, meeting reports, and editorials. The panel discussions encourage experts to consider important topics. There is a section for letters to the editor, which provides for a lively exchange of opinions on previously published articles or other topics of interest. There is also an opportunity to publish the proceedings of special workshops, symposia, etc. All manuscripts are peer reviewed by a distinguished group of advisory editors from many countries covering all of the various disciplines of Microbial and Infectious Diseases.
